Carissa: Ch. 15

Marissa stayed still in her bed, her head resting upon her pillow. Unable to fall asleep, she allowed her thoughts about Cameron race through her mind. She thought of his soft, caramel colored hair and his geek-chic black framed glasses. She thought about the feel of his strong arms around her petite waist, and the feel of his soft lips on hers. Sighing with distress, she pushed herself into an upright position, suddenly contemplating about talking to Cameron.

Cameron stood leaning over the sink in the boys’ bathroom, pieces of a plan forming inside his mind. The first part of his plan was to talk to Marissa; he wanted to explain to her the things he’s been feeling, and why. Once that was done, he would call Macy and talk to her, and explain to her why he acted the way he did. In the past few hours, Cameron realized that his heart belonged to Macy all along, and that he fell in love with Marissa because she reminded him of Macy. Cameron hated to think this, but it was almost as if the redhead filled the void for Macy while he was away from her.

Deciding to talk to Cameron while she still had the guts to do it, Marissa swung her legs over the side of her bed, and walked out of the girls’ dorm into the empty hallway. Bracing herself for what was about to come, she quietly turned the doorknob to the boys’ dorm and entered. Looking around the room, she furrowed her brows in confusion as she couldn’t seem to find Cameron anywhere.

Cameron walked out of the bathroom, and was surprised to find Marissa standing in the middle of the room, her eyes locked on his. He was taken aback, for he hadn’t planned on talking to Marissa so soon. Deciding to face the situation head on, he gestured for Marissa to sit next to him on his bed.

Marissa sat gingerly on the edge of Cameron’s bed, pushing aside a pair of skinny jeans. She hadn’t expected Cameron to start talking first; she thought she came to talk to him, not for him to talk to her. Nonetheless, the redhead listened intently as Cameron began to speak.

A Dameron Drabble: Not Now

Cameron walked silently around the boys’ dorm, looking frantically for a v-neck. He watched as Damian passed coldly by him, not saying a word to him. Cameron sighed in defeat, and continued to look for his clothes. Ever since he had suggested that they come out, things had gotten icy between them. When Cameron tried to make some sort of eye contact with his Irish crush, Damian merely looked away without a second thought. The nerd desperately wanted to make up with Damian; he just felt empty without having his Irish crush to talk and joke around with.

Damian sat on his bed in silence, avoiding any eye contact with Cameron as he watched him rifle through his luggage full of clothes. He watched Cameron intently, devouring every movement he made. He ached to talk to him again, but was afraid that the nerd would shut him out if he tried. Damian knew he shouldn’t have overreacted that night that they played spin the bottle, but he just couldn’t help it. He wasn’t ready to come out to the others. He wasn’t even sure if he accepted himself yet. And how could others accept me if I can’t even accept myself? Damian thought sadly.

Cameron sighed in relief as he found the shirt he had been searching for. He threw it onto his bed, and as he bent down to reorganize the mess that laid in his suitcase, his eyes met with Damian’s. He immediately blinked and looked away, turning his head so fast he thought he might get whiplash.

Damian shot up in longing as Cameron’s eyes met his. He felt a shock of electricity pass between them, but that feeling disappeared altogether once Cameron turned away. The Irish lad sighed sadly, longing to speak to the man he was crazy about. He watched, consumed with lust, as Cameron pulled off his tank top and pulled on a gray v-neck.

Cameron sat back down on his bed after changing his clothes, and remained still. He longed to talk to Damian, to sort things out and to get back to the way things used to be. But more than anything, he longed to kiss him again. In an instant, and without thinking, Cameron asked, “Damian, can we talk?”

The Irish lad sighed heavily. Even though he did want to talk to Cameron, he wasn’t quite sure if he was ready to. He still had to sort out his own feelings before sorting out his feelings for Cameron. Damian felt alone, scared, and confused. In reply, he said, “Actually Cameron, I don’t really feel like talking right now.” Instantly regretting what he had just said, he got up, and left the room.

Cameron watched in agony as Damian walked out of the room. He couldn’t understand why Damian was acting this way, why he was so, reserved all of a sudden. Deciding to not bother Damian any longer, the nerd sat alone on his bed, feeling more bewildered and sadder than ever.

A Dameron Drabble: Someone New

Cameron and Damian walked side-by-side down the sidewalk to In-N-Out, which is where they would be eating dinner that night. Every so often, both boys would look bump hands playfully. Each boy desperately wanted to hold hands with the other, but were scared because they were out in public and because they still weren’t sure how the other felt about them. In a matter of minutes, the pair reached the front of In-N-Out.

Cameron lunged for the door handle, but was beat by Damian, who held onto the handle and pulled the door open, all while looking straight at Cameron. After the moment that they had just shared while they were leaving the house, Damian just knew that Cameron had feelings for him. “After you, sir.” Damian said to his friend with a playful smile on his face.

The nerd looked at his Irish friend in delight and said, “Why thank you.” Cameron still couldn’t believe the moment he and Damian just shared just 10 minutes ago. It was after Damian caught Cameron after tripping over his shoelace. They were walking out the door when all of a sudden they bumped hands. It had been a magical moment for Cameron, one that gave him butterflies just thinking about it.

Cameron and Damian fell in line with about 5 other customers in front of them. “So,” Damian said skeptically. He was staring at the menu and was confused as to why there were so little choices. All they had were 3 kinds of hamburgers, shakes, and 1 type of fries. “What’s good here? It doesn’t seem like there are a lot of options.”

Cameron chuckled at his Irish friend’s naivety. “Well, it’s not on the menu, but I always order the Animal Style burger and Animal Style fries. The burger has grilled onions, pickles, and the patty is cooked in mustard. The fries are covered with melted cheese and their hamburger spread. They’re both freakin’ delicious, I’m sure you’ll love it.”

Damian cocked his head to one side and shrugged his shoulders playfully. “Alright, I’ll just get that. It better be delicious, or else next time I’m picking where we eat.”

Cameron laughed, but couldn’t get those words out of his head. Damian said next time, as in, there will definitely be a next time. Cameron couldn’t help but smile at that thought. Finally, it was their turn to order. Cameron went up and ordered for the two of them. He then took out his wallet and handed the cashier the money.

Damian was startled when Cameron gave the full amount to the cashier. He had been thinking that they would split the order, but now Cameron was paying for the dinner in full. As if they were on a date. Damian couldn’t help but think to himself. “Wait, I thought we would both pay.” Damian said as they walked away from the counter.

“No, I brought you here, so I’ll pay. That’s how it works in America.” Cameron said to his friend, winking at him. Minutes later, their order number was called, and Cameron went to pick it up while Damian went to find someplace to sit. Once Damian found a suitable table, Cameron placed their tray of food down in front of them, sat down, and proceeded to dig into their hamburgers.

After a few silent minutes of chewing and swallowing, Damian piped up and said, “Wow, this really is good.” He had a tiny smudge of spread on his cheek, and Cameron couldn’t help but laugh. Confused, Damian looked down to see if he had dripped some ketchup on his shirt. But there was nothing.

Cameron continued laughing and said, “You have some spread right here. Here, I’ll get it for you.” He then leaned across the table, wiping the smudge off of Damian’s cheek. It was a gentle yet somewhat romantic gesture, and the Irish boy couldn’t help but blush.

Noticing that they were almost out of ketchup, Cameron got up from the table and said, “I’m gonna get some ketchup, be right back.” He said to Damian before walking to the condiments counter. Once he got there, he noticed a blonde-haired girl was having trouble with the ketchup dispenser. Impatient and wanting to get back to his Irish friend, Cameron tapped the girls’ shoulder and when she turned around, Cameron gasped.

It was Dianna Agron.
